The minute my husband leaves the room he is talking up a storm but the minute he is in the room he is really quiet. How come my African Grey is quiet when my husband is in the room and talks when he isn't?
It is maybe he is scared of your husband for something he has done or is because your african grey bird doesn't like your husbandHow come my African Grey is quiet when my husband is in the room and talks when he isn't?
He isn't use to your husband and is observing him to determine what exactly you husband is doing near it. There's no bond and maybe your husband should spend a little more time with the African Grey so that the bird is more comfortable to chat again when he's in the room. this doesn't mean he should play and tame it but stay in the room and call to it in a soft voice. He should also move gently and slowly for the bird if he's coming towards it.
see how he reacts to other people, too, because sometimes african greys only like one person or one gender. my dad used to have a parrot that loved girls and hated boys, so that might be it.
He has not bonded with your husband. He is scared and not sure what to think of him and is intimidated. Your husband should also interact with the bird and speak in a soft voice and connect with the bird.
If he does that than the bird should be fine.
Does he get all thin and does his face change when your husband comes in?
I HAVE A AFRICAN GRAY ALSO, AND SHE WILL NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANYBODY BUT ME. WHEN I'M GONE SHE IS QUIT, AS SOON AS I WALK THROUGH THE DOOR, HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN. SHE WILL NOT STOP TALKING. THEY ARE NORMALLY A ONE PERSON BIRD
