My husband is waiting for his green card and has had trouble being accepted for a credit card. We want to build his credit but are unsure how to proceed. Thanks!Will my foreign husband gain credit if I add him as an authorized user on my credit card?
most credit card issuers will report authorized users to the credit bureaus. you will need to call the company because most will report as long as you have a social security number for the other person. if they don't ask for the social security number they probably won't be able to report it.Will my foreign husband gain credit if I add him as an authorized user on my credit card?
it will help him a lot, call your credit cards ( the one you have the longest and no late payments) and ask them to add your husband like authorized user. the credit scoring software credit agency use only read how long ago the credit card was open.
Since your husband is waiting for his ';green card,'; he can't get a Social Security Number (unless he wants to fraudulently use someone else's.';
Credit Bureaus keep track of credit accounts by name AND Social Security Number.

As long as you can both handle the card in a responsible manner, that is a good start, yes. Also putting his name onto the household utility bills should help as well.
This will have no effect on his credit.
