These are the causes of one having difficulty in swallowing after a Laryngectomy and Radiation...

1) Commonest is A STRICTURE across the Oropharynx and the Oesophagus which occurs as a Consequence of Radiation.. This can be treated by manual dilatation with Bogues and sometimes surgery

2) It can be a cancer recurrence and involving a growth which is obstructing the orifice.. This is possible since around 1 year has elapsed after his surgery

3) It can also be a Neuromuscular dysfunction which is causing this..

Whatever the cause may be, it warrants a immediate attention by a ENT specialist... Consult ur Doctor immediately..Why is my husband having difficulty swallowing after a larynectomy and radiotherapy ?
go see the doctor immediatly before he gets dehydrated or starves. this is common after an operation like that so your doctor will know what to do
