Need to make a basket of different beers for my husband for christmas.any ideas on some cool beers to include?

when it comes to all the beers out there i just wouldn't know where to start. but im getting him a home bar and id like to be able to stock it (for now) with about three really nice (cheap) wines, and a six pack of different beers he'd like to try. i'd also like recommendations on the the wine. i don't care about the differences between ales and lagers or pinots or anything. we really have no preference.

and he'll drink anything. Need to make a basket of different beers for my husband for christmas.any ideas on some cool beers to include?
I would look for a local beer store, not the grocery store, but a beer store. Most of them will carry several beers for all over the US and the world. They also now offer where you can buy 1 bottle at a time and not have to buy a 6-pack. So with that you could get him 6 from the US and 6 from other countries, or really treat him right get him 12 of each. As far as the wines if you want something cheap but decent I prefer red's and if you want cheap look to Yellow Tail, they have several flavors for you. It does depend on where you are - what country/state are you in?

In the U.S., most small breweries now put out special Christmas or Holiday ales. You could put together a selection of those as a Christmas gift.

For example -

Harpoon Winter Warmer (flavored with nutmeg + cinnamon)

Sam Adams has Holiday Porter and Old Fezziwig, in addition to Winter Lager.

Gritty MacDuff's Christmas Ale (from Maine, found this in MA last year)

Pete's Winter Brew (TX)

Stoudt's Holiday Reserve (PA)

Wasatch Christmas Ale (UT)

Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome (UK)

Delerium Noel (Belgium)

Ridgeway Lump of Coal Holiday Stout (UK)

This is just a start - I'm including a link to a long list of others. What's available in your area, I don't know, check with a local beer distributor or specialty store...
With the beers there's a few ways to go... In the US, you can go all microbrews - Samuel Adams, Anchor, Seirra Nevada... etc

Or you can go with beers from different countries... Jamica = Red Stripe, Ireland = Guiness, Belguim = Stella Artios... etc

For the wines, look for something in the $10 range from California...
get a beer from several countries. Belgium has really nice ones. Hoegaarden is a nice blonde, Leffe a nice dark, Kriek is a cherry based dark beer. Stella is a popular choice as well.

wine wise.. Merlot is a fruity red. Pinot Grigio a relatively fruity white, Chardonnay an oaky white. Just to get a good mix of all tastes.
I will not name specific beer labels but I will suggest an assortment. You want a selection of beers from a bunch or brewers. Get a selection with a variety of styles such as Pale Ale (Bitter), Brown Ales, Porter, Winter Seasonal and such beers like this.
Have you looked here?

They have different beers, BBQ Sauces and other things in one spot.

If nothing else it's great for ideas.

I am not affilliated with it, I just like looking there.

Good luck.
You must include Boddingtons Pub Ale. It is the perfect breakfast beer!
