I was wondering if my husband will get to live with me and our school while he is in tech school? He is going for electrical, and school is six months. He will be at Sheppard in TX, just wondering how this all works?Militarty air force husband living together while in tech school?
maybe, maybe not. he will have to get permission form the school to have you join him. If they do NOT give permission, then if you choose to move it will be all out of pocket, you will NOT be eligible for on base housing and he may not be allowed to live with you off base, he may be required to live in the barracks regardless.
If school is exactly six months long or even just a couple of days shorter, you can expect permission to be denied. Generally speaking , school must be in EXCESS of 26 weeks long before the commands will sign off on Accompanied orders.Militarty air force husband living together while in tech school?
His Tech School is not six months.
The AF only has two or three Tech Schools that are 26 weeks or longer.
To have the military pay for a spouse to move, your Tech School must be atleast 26 weeks.
But you can pay to move yourself to his Tech School and rent an apartment off base.
But in the AF, for the first month of Tech School, you are restricted to base. Even if your family is allowed to be moved.
Your best bet, is to just visit your husband after the first month hes at Tech School.
And wait untill he gets to his first duty station to move,
If you edit your question and tell us what his exact AFSC
( job ) is, we can tell you exactly how long his Tech School is.
It's Air Force...two seperate words, just to let you know :)
Your husband can request to live off-base during tech school but it's not always approved. He'll have to ask his MTL's about it and the MTL's will submit a letter for approval to his Commander. If his MTL's are not willing to do the paperwork for him, he can always ask his tech school training instructor.
He has to maintain good test scores and stay out of trouble.
Moving you there will be an out-of-pocket expense but once you are there and if it is approved, he will be recieving BAH for the Sheppard area....if he is denied and you choose to live off-base anyways, he can always see you after training or on the weekends.
